Team members from left to right: Jay, Steve, Irene and Tom. Greetings from Chengdu, For someone who is comfortable in a lazy southern town like Savannah, everything here seems chaotic and difficult. In reality, thought, everything here IS chaotic and difficult! It is hard to describe a city with a population of 10-12 million souls other than to say that it is HUGE and extremely complex. Day 1: Since leaving yesterday morning, we have logged over 20 hours in the air. Our travels took us from Savannah to Washington DC to Tokyo to Chengdu. Our trip was relatively uneventful except for our landing in Tokyo in a severe thunderstorm which had cleared all grounds personnel from their stations due to safety reasons. I think we landed under such poor weather conditions simply because we were near out of fuel and had to. This was by far the most unnerving…

GO Vegas from left to right: Chelsea, Julia, Tara, Heidi, Carla and Angel. Sunday The team arrived safely Saturday night and hit the ground running on Sunday. Teaming up with Verve church led by Pastor Vince they hit the streets passing out invitation cards and getting the word out about Verve. Check back for more information! Monday Oh my goodness, what a great day! We started out early this morning by picking up 40 dozen donuts from Krispy Kreme and handing them out to local business. We taped info cards for Verve Church to the boxes, and dropped them off, explaining that we wanted to bless them and start their week off right with some free donuts. One guy even tried to pay Tara for the breakfast treats, and almost everyone seems surprised that anyone would do that for them. It was awesome! From there we canvassed local neighborhoods and…

Note - Dave is posting his reflections on the "Treasures" tab above. October 13 Savannah Christian, We are a couple days late in getting this post up, please forgive us. Recap of the last couple days… We arrived in New Delhi and spent the first full day in the city learning the culture and history. We were able to visit Indira Gandhi’s home, the Presidential Palace and the India Gate. All very interesting and fascinating stuff; however, the highlight of the day was getting to sit down with Mahipal. His testimony is similar in some ways to Paul’s in the Bible. He was raised in a Hindi culture, became a key member in a Hindu extremist group and hated Christians. Fast forward to the present, he leads over a 1,000 people in multiple churches in the outskirts of Delhi to a life changing connection with Jesus Christ. He…

October 10 Hey everyone...we are here! We had a flawless flight and airport experience and everyone is great! We just finished orientation and a "tour" of Buena Vista and have now arrived at BVSA. It is amazing! The pictures do not do it justice in any way and our team is sitting in awe and watching the boys practice. I am looking so forward to the things God is going to do this week. Thank you all for your love, prayers, and support. Jessica October 11 We are here in Buena Vista completely amazed at the opportunities given to us. We get to partner with Deep Stream Guatemala to work with the young people in this area of Central America in an attempt to introduce them to a Jesus so many of them don't know. Today we played ultimate frisbee with the boys and shared so many cool moments with…

September 30 Greetings from Virginia. We arrived yesterday at about 10pm. Today we met with a missionary from Ghana who gave us a very powerful talk about being a Christian and having Jesus as our Saviour. We spent the day loading boxes of clothes into a shipping container to send to Nicaragua. In the evening we went to a Menonite Fund Raiser and had a great time eating dinner, sampling funnel cakes, apple butter, and apple cider, and seeing the live auction. We are now preparing for a good night's rest and another day of labor for the Kingdom. Love,Eric Horn and the ETS 2011 Team October 2 We had an outstanding trip this year. We packed a shipping container to Nicaragua that contained 992 boxes of clothes (weighing roughly 33,000 pounds), some drums, and over 100 chairs. We also packed some shoes, chalkboards, and desks in a truck…

Team members from left to right - Dan, Kristen, Beckie, Renee, Christine, Nicole and Harrison. Sepember 10 GO Team Haiti arrived safely and is currently in La Baie with Grant and Natasha. They were met by a house full of kids from the orphange and excited to be on the ground! Please continue to pray for the team this week and check back for more updates.-GO Team September 12 Bonjour or Bonswa from the Savannah Christian Team in Haiti. Our team arrived late Saturday afternoon in Port au Paix. I am sitting here trying to find the words to best describe what a first timer, that would be myself and several other team member, are experiencing here. In short, the consensus is no words are enough. Haiti is a series of stark contrasts of beauty and decay. Unfortunately, the decay is mainly what you see and the media fails to capture…

July 27 What a difference a day makes, or two...48 hours ago our lives were very different. Keith and I were thinking we were going to North Carolina to serve missionaries at JAARS. We were looking forward to building camaraderie with a few other members of our SCC family and to learning about JAARS and its mission to facilitate the spreading of God's Word to all people. Today, after only two days at JAARS, His spirit is stirring within us, and we are sure God is at work in leading us into the next phase of our life together--in service to Him. We have always known that He had a plan for the two of us and for our family, but now, we are beginning to see that plan materialize. All the opportunities we have enjoyed over the years have prepared us for what we have heard these last…

July 29 Day 1 of our most excellent adventure gave us many opportunities for flexibility and a sense of humor as we tried to get to The Hills. But as can be expected God carried us over every hurdle and made His grace known to us. We are very grateful to all of our support teams who are keeping us in prayer. After 31 hours from Savannah to when we found our pillows we knew you were lifting us up so we can lift up our team here in The Hills. Day 2 was spent recovering from jet lag and having Christmas in August. The kids faces (big and little alike) lit up when we finally were able to give all the hugs sent from back home and when we pulled out all the gifts and bible studies donated . It’s a sobering reminder to me…

July 24 I just wanted to let you know that we are here safe and things are going really well. We have been able to attend church this morning after arriving here last night at 3:00AM. We interacted with the church community and had lunch at the community center. This afternoon we were able to spend time with the children and now we are back to Carlos' house about to eat dinner. Things are going well and we are talking with Carlos tonight about this weeks agenda -Bill July 25 Today we had a wonderful time with the people of San Jose and Curia. After a local favorite Ecuadorian breakfast, part of the group had fun with the children in both villages conducting VBS, a couple of the men went on home visits checking on some of the ill or elderly in the village, and our group painted…

You can also follow GO Team Rwanda on Dave's blog - Treasures of Darkness July 15 It's hard to explain today in words. The day was spent with people the world has forgotten, but God has not! The morning was spent with children that have been orphaned by genocide, by AIDS, or abandoned by their family. The man who is helping the children off the street became a follower of Christ in one of the prisons we are traveling to this week. We spoke to them about how much that we love them because Jesus first loved us. We heard children give testimonies about being left behind and then rescued by people who showed them the love of Christ. We spent the afternoon at a facility that helps repair the hearts of women that were physically and/or sexually abused and now many are infected with HIV.…

June 27 Today has been an amazing start to our journey here in Ecuador. After a long night and getting up early we were on our way to San Jose to spend some times with the kids in the school. We were welcomed with open arms from everyone here. Everyone got to spend time with the children play games and just hang out. We had Bible school this evening and had about 30 children plus some parents show up to hear what we had to say about God. We made a snack and just loved on each and every child. For the people who came last year, today has been a day for reuniting and sharing smiles. We are continually praying that God will bless us with these people from San Jose and Curia and that we continue to make an impact on their lives as week spend time with…
